Cherepanov, Sergei Aleksandrovich

 

Born Mar. 19 (31), 1881, in Kungur; died August 1918 in Tiumen’. Participant in the Russian revolutionary movement. Member of the Communist Party from 1903.

Cherepanov was the son of a worker. He conducted party work, which he first undertook in 1903, in Ekaterinburg (now Sverdlovsk), Samara (now Kuibyshev), Ufa, and Perm’. In 1916 he was drafted into the army, where he conducted revolutionary work among the soldiers. After the February Revolution of 1917, Cherepanov was one of the leaders of the military organization of the St. Petersburg Committee of the RSDLP(B). In June 1917 he became a member of the All-Russian Bureau of the Military Organization of the Central Committee of the RSDLP(B). Cherepanov took part in the October Armed Uprising in Petrograd. In 1918 he helped organize the Tomsk provincial council of the national economy and became the council’s chairman. In the summer of 1918 he joined the Bolshevik underground in Sibera. Cherepanov was arrested and shot by White Guards.
