Blaten Principality
Blaten Principality
an early feudal Slavic state that existed in the ninth century on the territory of modern Hungary in the vicinity of Lake Balaton (Blaten). Its center was the city of Blaten, founded by the first Blaten prince Pribina. In the 870’s A.D. the work of the Slavic enlightener Methodius spread in the Blaten Principality, and here he founded the Pannonian archbishopric. In A.D. 874 the Blaten principality became a part of the Great Moravian State.
