Cherskii

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Nizhnekolymsk Raion, Yakut ASSR. Cherskii is a port on the Kolyma River. The settlement has a fish-processing plant, a meat-dairy combine, and a reindeer-breeding and fur-farming sovkhoz. The floating gas-turbine electric power plant Severnoe Siianie-01 is in Cherskii. The settlement was named in honor of J. Czerski (I. D. Cherskii).
