Faradism

 

(also faradization), an obsolete method of biological stimulation used for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. Faradism, which is named after M. Faraday, consists in the application of a low-frequency (30–150 hertz) asymmetric alternating current, called a faradic current. In modern medical practice, more effective methods of electrodiagnosis and electrotherapy that employ current pulses are used.
