DPP6

DPP6

A gene on chromosome 7q36.2 that encodes dipeptidyl-peptidase 6, which has no detectable protease activity given the absence of a serine residue normally present in the catalytic domain of other members of the DPP family. DPP6 binds specific voltage-gated potassium channels, altering their expression and biophysical properties, and it may play a role in neurophysiological processes.
Molecular pathology
Defects in DPP6 cause ventricular fibrillation type 2; genetic variation in DPP6 may influence susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
