Chiaochou Wan

a bay of the Yellow Sea, on the southern coast of the Shantung Peninsula of China. The bay is approximately 6 km wide at its entrance and reaches a width of 24 km in its central area; it has a depth of approximately 12 m. In severe winters Chiachou Wan freezes over. The city and port of Tsingtao is situated at the entrance to the bay.
