A generic term for the treatment of schizophrenia during the prodromal stages or with the first signs of relapse, using various interventions (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy—CBT). Advocates of early CBT claim it reduces hospitalisation and greatly improves positive symptoms, performance of independent functions and prosocial activities, as well as reduces negative symptoms.
