Fernán Caballero
Caballero, Fernán
(pen name of Cecilia Böhl de Fáber). Born Dec. 25, 1796, in Morges, Switzerland; died Apr. 7, 1877, in Seville. Spanish writer.
Fernán Caballero published an anthology of Andalusian folklore entitled National Pictures (1862). In her novel The Seagull (1848), which contains elements of realism, she portrayed a strong woman destroyed by bourgeois society. She also wrote the novels Clemencia (1852) and The Alvareda Family (1856).
