Ch’ien Shan

mountains in China; the southwestern tip of the Manchurian-Korean Mountains, terminating on the Liaotung Peninsula. The Ch’ien Shan are approximately 200 m long and reach an elevation of 1,132 m at Puyün Shan. The mountains consist of several parallel ranges that become hills in the southwest. The ranges are composed chiefly of granites and schists; they have sharp crests and are deeply dissected by river valleys. The slopes have tracts of oak and pine forest. Kaoliang and corn are cultivated in a large part of the Ch’ien Shan.
