Dablagomi

Dablagomi

A Village in Samtredia Raion, Georgian SSR, where in 1929 the remains of several settlements were discovered. These settlements date from the early Bronze Age and the late Bronze to early Iron Age, as well as from the classical era (sixth to third centuries B.C.). A burial ground in Dablagomi of the classical era, with flexed burials in pithoi, has been studied; the items found include bronze bracelets, grivny (silver ingots used as money in ancient Russia), silver seal rings, coins (kolkhidki), and various ceramic vessels. Iron weapons and implements and native and imported ceramics were found in the cultural layers of that time. A hoard of kolkhidki and ornaments (mid-fourth century B.C.)was found in a silver vial there.
