A typically midgut volvulus (twisting of the entire midgut around the axis of the superior mesenteric artery), which is characterised by lower GI obstruction and variable compromise in vascularity.Clinical findings
Nausea, vomiting, bloody stool, abdominal pain, constipation, shock.
Management
Surgical reduction.

Gastrointestinal defects
• Oesophageal atresia;
• Pyloric stenosis;
• Duodenal atresia, web or stenosis
• Ileal and jejunal atresia or duplication;
• Meckel diverticulum;
• Omphalocele;
• Meconium ileus;
• Intussusception;
• Hirschsprung disease;
• Imperforate anus.
Pancreatic and Biliary disease
• Annular pancreas;
• Cystic fibrosis;
• Biliary atresia;
• Situs inversus and asplenia (may be associated with biliary atresia).
Other associations
• Agenesis of corpus callosum;
• Congenital heart disease;
• Diaphragmatic hernia;
• Erythroblastosis;
• Kidney abnormalities;
• Trisomies: 21, 13, 18;
• VACTERL association.
