 [dak″re-o-sis″to-ri″no-stĕ-no´sis] narrowing of the duct leading from the lacrimal sac to the nasal cavity.

(dăk″rē-ō-sĭs″tō-rī-nō-stĕ-nō′sĭs) [″ + ″ + rhis, nose, + stenosis, act of narrowing] Narrowing or obliteration of the canal connecting a lacrimal sac with the nasal cavity. Patency is tested by placing a weak sugar solution in the conjunctival space. If the duct is patent, the patient will report a sweet taste in the mouth.
