cancer screening test

cancer screening test

Any measurable clinical or lab parameter which is used to detect early malignancy. While these tests are relatively nonspecific, they are highly sensitive and detect many persons who are "abnormal" for the parameter being measured.

Examples
Occult blood in stool to detect colorectal cancer, mammography to detect microcalcifications and densities for breast cancer, serum PSA to detect prostate cancer.
