Location:In Milton, .25 miles north of Houghton's Pond, off Rt 93 (exit 3).
Facilities:Camping at the Appalachian Mountain Club; 36-hole golfcourse (in Canton); hiking trails (125 miles), skating rink, mountainbike rentals; picnic tables, softball fields, and swimming beach atHoughton's Pond; trailside museum, observatory and science center.
Activities:Camping, boating (non-motorized only), fishing, golfing,hiking, horseback riding, ice skating, mountain biking, rock climbing,cross-country and downhill skiing, swimming, educational programs.
Special Features:Reservation is located just minutes from downtown Boston, and visitors can view the entire metro area from the summit of Great Blue Hill, the highest of the 22 hills in the Blue Hills chain. The Metropolitan Parks Commission purchased the land for the reservation in1893, making it one of the first areas in the state set aside for public recreation. It is rich in both archeological and historic resources, with 16 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it features scenic views, varied terrain, and more than 125 miles of trails.
