It was named after one of the Greek Nereids, for good victory or happy victory. It was named in commemoration of a peace treaty that was signed between Turkey and Russia two days after this body was discovered. The asteroid indicates good luck and a fortunate outcome to activities undertaken in matters associated with its sign and house position.
