Derbendi
Derbendi
(also Derbendiye), a dynasty of rulers of Shirvan (a historical region in northern Azerbaijan) that ruled from 1382 to 1538. It was founded by Ibrahim I, whose ancestors had been rulers of the city of Derbent (hence the name of the dynasty). The Derbendi dynasty came to an abrupt end after the troops of Tahmasp (Tahmasib) I, who ruled the state of the Safavids, occupied Shirvan, seized the Shirvan shah Shahrukh, took him to Tabriz, and executed him in 1538.
