释义 | Eptesicus
EptesicusEptesicusa genus of bats, which is divided into groups of small and medium-sized bats (in Russian, kozhany) and of yet smaller bats (kozhanki). There are several dozen species of the former type, distributed in the temperate and tropical zones of both hemispheres. Two species are found in the USSR. The serotine bat (Eptesicus serotinus), the largest member of the genus, has a body measuring up to 75 mm long. It is found in Western, Southern, and Southeastern Europe, the Middle East, Middle and Central Asia, and Northern Africa. Serotine bats live primarily in buildings and form large colonies. Feeding on large insects, they fly out to seek prey at twilight. The species E. ognevi is smaller than the serotine bat (size distinguishes the two species). It is found in Middle and Southwest Asia, as well as in Transcaucasia. The small bats of this genus (kozhanki) are sometimes separated into the genus Amblyotus (some taxonomists consider it to be a subgenus). There are two species in the USSR. E. nilssoni is distributed throughout the entire northern half of Eurasia and the arctic circle. It has a body measuring up to 55 mm long and is active until late autumn. The species E. bobrinskii, which is rare, is found in the deserts of Kazakhstan. Eptesicus
