Antonin Janousek
Janoušek, Antonín
Born 1877; died 1941. Figure in the Czechoslovak and international working-class movements.
Janoušek joined the Czechoslovak Social Democratic Labor Party in 1895. In 1919 he became the head of the Czechoslovak section of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Hungary. In June 1919 he took part in the struggle to establish the Slovak Soviet Republic, and he headed its government, the Slovak Revolutionary Governmental Council.
After the fall of the Slovak Soviet Republic, Janoušek was arrested and imprisoned; he lived in the USSR from 1922.
