It incorporated the work of the former Social Services Inspectorate (SSI), the SSI/Audit Commission Joint Review Team and the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC). During its 5-year lifespan, it was the independent inspectorate for all social care services in England. The CSCI, the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Act Commission were replaced by the Care Quality Commission in 2009. |
