Ferrugineum

Ferrugineum

 

a species of bread wheat with red kernel and a red, awned, glabrate spike. It is grown in East Asia, northern Europe, Argentina, and—to a lesser extent—southern Europe, North America, and Africa. Most commonly cultivated in the USSR are the winter varieties Ferrugineum 67 (Tadzhikistan) and Bolbugda (Azerbaijan) and the spring varieties Kazakhstan 126 (southern Kazakhstan and Kirghizia), Skorospelko uluchshennaia (Yakutia), and Kyrmyzy-bugda (Azerbaijan).
