Boam Gorge

 

or BoomGorge, a deep, narrow, transverse gorge of the Chu River, dividing the Kirghiz Range from the Kungei-Alatau Range in the Kirghiz SSR. Boam Gorge is approximately 30 km long; its sides have a maximum height of 1,500 m. A highway and a railroad connecting the cities of Frunze and Rybach’e (on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul’) run along the gorge.
