Chinese paralytic syndrome

An acute paralyzing illness affecting children and young adults in Northern China. Doubts have been expressed as to whether this is a distinct condition or a variant of POLIOMYELITIS. It is thought possible that the widespread use of oral polio vaccine may have led to an antigenic change resulting in altered pathogenicity.
