释义 | Dall, William HealeyDall, William Healey(1845–1927) naturalist; born in Boston, Mass. He studied natural sciences with Louis Agassiz. Dall led the Western Union Telegraph Expedition to Alaska (1865–68) and joined the U.S. Coast Survey of Alaska (1871–84) and the U.S. Geological Survey (1884–1923). He wrote Alaska and its Resources (1870) and the Pacific Coast Pilot (2 vols. 1879–83) and he published extensively on mollusks. Dall's sheep, a bighorn sheep found in northwestern North America, is named after him. |
