Belkovskii Island
Bel’kovskii Island
located in the Novosibirsk archipelago in the Sea of Laptev. Bel’kovskii Island is part of Yakut ASSR. Area, approximately 500 sq km. It has a level surface, with elevations up to 120 m. The shores are smooth but craggy in places. Located on the rocks are large nesting places for birds, and on one of the spits of land there is a walrus rookery. This island was discovered by the trader Bel’kov in 1808.
