Bobrovnikov, Aleksei Aleksandrovich

 

Born 1821 or 1822, in Irkutsk; died Mar. 8 (20), 1865, in Orenburg. Russian scholar and specialist on Mongolia. Bobrovnikov studied at the Irkutsk Seminary. In 1847 he graduated from the Kazan Ecclesiastical Academy, where he taught the Mongolian language and mathematics from 1850 to 1855. His main works are The Grammar of the Mongolian-Kalmyk Language (1849) and Remains in Mongolian Cuneiform Writing (1870).
