Committee on the Environment

(COTE)The American Institute of Architects (AIA) energy committee was formed in 1973 to study energy building issues and to develop energy guidelines for passive solar design and building energy performance. The AIA formed COTE in 1990 to advance, disseminate, and advocate to the profession, the building industry, academic institutions, and the public, design practices that integrate built and natural systems and that enhance the environmental performance of buildings.
