commixtio

commixtio

‘the mixture of things’, a doctrine in the Roman law of property. If the items could be separated, then there was no problem; if they could not, ownership was in common unless the nature of the mixing were such that one thing was clearly an accessory to the other, in which case the rules on accession applied.
