Chirik of Island

 

an island in the northern Pacific, in the Gulf of Alaska. Chirikof Island is part of the state of Alaska (USA). It has an area of approximately 160 sq km and a maximum elevation of 300 m. Subarctic meadows are found on the island. Cattle raising is the primary economic activity. The island was discovered by A. I. Chirikov in 1741 and was named in his honor by the English navigator G. Vancouver in 1798.
