Established: 1976.
Location:14 miles west of the northwest corner of Puerto Rico.
Special Features:Three endemic species and subspecies of lizards are found on the island. Island once housed the largest red-footed booby and brown booby nesting colony in the eastern Caribbean.
Habitats: 360 acres encompassing all of Desecheo Island. The island is extremely rugged and rocky, its highest peak at 676 feet.
Access: Closed to the public due to the presence of unexploded military munitions.
Wild life: Feral goats monkeys, and cats.
