desensitisation

A therapeutic modality that attempts to reduce IgE-mediated hypersensitivity to various substances by administering ever-increasing amounts of an antigen (e.g., urushiol in poison ivy, sumac and pollen), with the purpose of evoking the formation of blocking antibodies.
