(company)On 29 April 1994, Commodore International announced that ithad been unable to renegotiate terms of outstanding loans andwas closing down the business. Commodore US was expected togo into liquidation. Commodore US, France, Spain, and Belgiumwere liquidated for various reasons. The names Commodore andAmiga were maintained after the liquidation.
On 1995-04-21 CBM was bought by Escom AG, a German companyand production of the Amiga resumed. Production of the 8-bitrange alledgedly never stopped during the time in liquidationbecause a Chinese company were producing the C64 in largenumbers for the local market there.
