cap contraceptive

cap contraceptive

A BARRIER CONTRACEPTIVE device in the form of a small dome-shaped plastic cup that fits snugly over the cervix of the womb and is usually left in place except during menstrual periods. Accurate fitting is important and the cap may become accidentally displaced. CERVICITIS may occur from infection of retained mucus. The cap is, in general, less satisfactory than the diaphragm contraceptive device. See also CONTRACEPTION.
