Bodjantequl
Bodjantequl
a lake and salt marsh in China, in the central low region of the Turfan Depression. It covers an area of more than 400 sq km and is 35–37 km long and 10–12 km wide. The Bodjantequl is filled with water in the winter, when the karezes (underground irrigation canals), which are widely distributed in the Turfan Depression, are open. In the winter, water is carried to the Bodjantequl only by the main river of the depression, the Algoi; the waters of this river have the highest mineral content in Central Asia (190–200 g per liter).
