a branch of the West Wind Drift (Antarctic Circumpolar Current) that flows through Drake Passage. The Cape Horn Current flows eastward from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. The velocity at its surface reaches 1 km/hr. The current extends to the bottom of Drake Passage, where the velocity is approximately 0.1 km/hr. It transports approximately 150 million cu m of water per sec. The current carries icebergs in summer.
