Established: 1938.
Location:South of Tillamook Bay, 8 miles west of Tillamook, Oregon.
Facilities:Viewing sites, hiking trail, interpretive exhibits.
Activities:Hiking, wildlife watching.
Special Features:One of the best places on Oregon's north coast to observe migrating whales (November to December and March to May).
Habitats: 138 acres of rocky Pacific Ocean headlands and an old growth forest of Sitka spruce and western hemlock.
Access: Public entry is permitted along the section of the Oregon Coast Trail that passes through the forest to Cape Meares State Park (see entry in Oregon state parks chapter).
Wild life: Common murres, tufted puffins, pelagic cormorants, band-tailed pigeons, and black-tailed deer, bald eagle, peregrine falcon.
