Location:Along the coast of South Carolina in Charleston County.

Special Features:Refuge protects the largest nesting rookery for brown pelicans, terns, and gulls on South Carolina coast and the largest nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles outside of Florida. Cape Romain also plays an integral role in the recovery of the endangered red wolf.
Habitats: 64,229 acres of salt and freshwater marshes, live oak forest, beach and sand dunes, fresh and brackish impoundments.
Access: Open year round during daylight hours; accessible by boat.
Wild life: Alligators, white-tailed deer, loggerhead sea turtles, brown pelicans, terns, gulls, waterfowl, wading birds, red wolves.
