Born Mar. 28, 1800 in Faenza; died Nov. 9, 1876, in Nice. Italian dramatic baritone.

A pupil of A. Rossi and B. Asioli, Tamburini made his debut in 1818. He toured several countries, giving many performances in Russia beginning in 1842. In 1855 he left the operatic theater and gave recitals until 1869. Tamburini had a voice of soft timbre; his performances were distinguished by a phenomenal coloratura technique and romantic style. Among the roles he sang were those of Gerónimo in Cimarosa’s Secret Marriage and Figaro in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Rossini’s Barber of Seville.
