Year of birth unknown; died 1648. Commander of a cossack detachment at the beginning of the war for the liberation of the Ukrainian and Byelorussian peoples in 1648–54.
In the summer of 1648, Nebaba’s detachment entered Byelorussia and, jointly with Byelorussian insurgents, routed the szlachectwo (Polish nobility or gentry) and the Catholic clergy in the region of the Berezina and Pripiat’ rivers. In September 1648, Nebaba’s detachment joined the residents of the city of Pinsk. The cossacks, artisans, and urban poor courageously defended the city against Polish and Lithuanian troops. Nebaba and his whole detachment died in combat.
