One of the forms of muscular dystrophy. This type is acquired by AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT inheritance and may appear at any age. Weakness is first noted in the facial muscles and then in the shoulders and arms. After many years the muscles of the pelvis and legs may be affected. Progress is very slow and non-continuous and the condition is compatible with normal length of life.
