Chitaia, Georgii Spiridonovich

 

Born Nov. 10, 1890, in the city of Poti. Soviet ethnographer. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR (1969).

Chitaia has studied the ethnogenesis and the material and spiritual culture of Georgians and other peoples of the Caucasus. He has written on general ethnography and the methods of ethnographic research. Chitaia has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
