Anton Petrovich Belevich

Belevich, Anton Petrovich

 

Born May 1 (14), 1914, in the village of Dunbrovka, now in Uzda Raion, Minsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Soviet Byelorussian poet.

Belevich’s works have been published since 1937. He fought in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. He writes lyrical verse and narrative poems, sketches on kolkhoz village life, and children’s verse. Belevich’s verse is suffused with love for his native region and is close to Byelorussian folklore in spirit. He has been awarded the Badge of Honor and several medals.
