[klȯr′ō·bē·əm] (microbiology) A genus of bacteria in the family Chlorobiaceae; cells are ovoid, rod- or vibrio-shaped, and nonmotile, do not have gas vacuoles, contain bacteriochlorophyll c or d, and are free-living.
