bogus therapy

bogus therapy

Pseudomedicine
Any therapy that is as effective as a placebo, but touted as an effective cure or treatment for anything from curing AIDS, cancer, infertility and multiple sclerosis to weight loss and increased longevity. In the US, consumers are largely protected by the FDA, which strictly regulates anything claiming medicinal value, meaning that vendors of bogus therapy must either remove promises of efficacy or move offshore and do business by mail.
