Location:Between Melbourne and Wabasso along Florida's east coast.
Activities:Educational programs.
Special Features:A linear refuge stretching for 20.5 miles, the site is the most important nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles in the Western Hemisphere and second most important nesting beach in the world. Twenty-five percent of all loggerhead sea turtle nests are laid along this strip of beach.
Habitats: 900 acres (when acquisiton is complete) sandy beach coastline.
Access: Limited by turtle activity; nest surveys are conducted April to September.
Wild life: Loggerhead sea turtles, green sea turtles.
