DRECNET/drek'net/ [Yiddish/German "dreck", meaning filth] Deliberatedistortion of DECNET, a networking protocol used in the VMScommunity. So called because DEC helped write the Ethernetspecification and then (either stupidly or as a malignantcustomer-control tactic) violated that spec in the design ofDRECNET in a way that made it incompatible.
