Boksitogorsk

 

a city; administrative center of Boksitogorsk Raion, Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR. It is located on the Piardomlia River (part of the Sias’ River basin), 245 km east of Leningrad. It is joined by a branch line to the Leningrad-Vologda railroad. Population, 22,000 (1967). The city has plants for the processing of alumina and for the artificial demoisturization of peat. The mining of bauxite and peat is carried on nearby.
