Choerh Ho

Ch’oerh Ho

 

a river in Northeast China; a right tributary of the Nonni River (Nen Chiang) of the Sungari River basin. The Ch’oerh Ho is 610 km long and drains an area of about 24,000 sq km. It rises in the Greater Khingan Mountains and flows through mountains and hills before crossing the Sung-Liao Plain in the lower course. The river empties into the Nonni through two arms. The water level is highest in spring and summer and lowest in winter. The mean flow rate is approximately 70 cu m per sec. The Ch’oerh Ho freezes over for five or six months a year. The river is used for floating timber, and in the lower course it is navigable by small vessels.
