Barpy Alykulov
Alykulov, Barpy
Born 1884, in Achi, now Suzak Raion, Osh Oblast; died Nov. 9, 1949, in Frunze. Soviet Kirghiz folk poet and improvisor.
Alykulov was born into the family of a poor peasant, and from childhood on he worked as a farm laborer for landowners. His songs written before the revolution told about the difficult conditions of the Kirghiz people. Later he composed poems and songs about socialist construction. Alykulov’s songs were written down beginning in 1943. They have been translated into Russian.
