[ko″le-sis-tog´rah-fe] radiography of the gallbladder, using a radiopaque dye as contrast medium. adj., adj cholecystograph´ic. The purpose of the examination is to determine the ability of the gallbladder to fill, concentrate bile, and empty. The dye is administered in tablets the evening before the x-ray films are made.
