Bolshoe Polpino

an urban-type settlement in Briansk Oblast, RSFSR, with a railroad station (Polpinskaia), 15 km southeast of Briansk. Population, 8,900 (1968). There is a phosphate fertilizer plant. In 1970 construction began on a keramzit (porous clay filler) and gravel plant. There are phosphorite deposits nearby.
